The BitNami Project was created to help spread the adoption of freely available, high quality Open Source web applications. BitNami aims to make it easier than ever to discover, download and install Open Source software such as document and content management systems, wikis and blogging software.

MediaWiki is a wiki package originally written for Wikipedia. It is now used by several other projects of the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation and by many other wikis. MediaWiki was designed to be run on a large server farm for a website that gets millions of hits per day.

The BitNami MediaWiki Stack greatly simplifies the installation of MediaWiki and runtime dependencies on Amazon EC2. It includes ready-to-run versions of Apache, MySQL and PHP. BitNami MediaWiki Stack is distributed for free under the Apache 2.0 license.
