First project help

If the first project doesn't work, here is a list of things to check

  • I always number my LEDs and switches from right to left (e.g. LED7 will be the leftmost one), regardless of what is silk-screened on the board!
  • Double check the FPGA type and package match your board, and your board is what you think you have.

Here is what it should look like for a Papilio One 500k

  • Check the pinout report and see that the correct pins have the correct signals assigned.

This is for the Papilio One, and I've hidden some of the columns:

This is for the Basyy2, nd I've hidden some of the columns and sorted by signal name

  • Run the Papilio Programmer from a command prompt, so you can see any errors.

Sample projects

If you are really stuck, here are some sample projects that you can download, extract and attempt building it:

File:First project basys2 250k.zip

If all else fails...

Don't bash your head against a wall - you can always email me at hamster at snap dot net dot nz.

Say "Hi!", and describe your problem. Remember to tell me which board you are working with.

If you want to also include your project, run "Cleanup Project Files..." from the project menu, close ISE, then zip up the project directory. This will keep the email nice and tiny.
